Ozzie has been adopted! 06-18-2010

Female about 0 old.

When Ozzie found his way to shelter, he weighed 57 lbs. Once you meet him in person, you will quickly realize that 57 lbs on this very tall and long fellow is nothing short of emaciated. While in the shelter, he gained nearly SIXTEEN pounds. We don't have his initial photos but we do have these photos of him at 72.5 lbs. Skinny guy, don't you think? So we all can only imagine what he must have looked like at 57 lbs.

Ozzie has a poor coat - his hair is coarse and rough. But we can see through to the beautiful boy waiting to shine through. Its amazing that he could gain 16 pounds in a SHELTER, one of the most stressful environments an animal can go through.

Now that we have Ozzie, we would love to find this lovely fellow a foster home while he waits for his forever home. About 4 years old, Ozzie just wants to fit in.

Update 4/12/10:

After several weeks of loving care, Ozzie is a new man! His coat is soft and shiny, he carries himself with dignity and his ears stand up straight and healthy. His foster mom reports that he is a typical GSD who strongly bonds to his human - he follows her every move. Ozzie sleeps in a crate and is housebroken. Ozzie exudes good health!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
